Belated kudos to The Seventy Four, which was shut out of the EWA awards (not a member, didn’t submit) but is a Webby honoree for Best Writing (Editorial) along with well-known outlets like the BBC and The Intercept.
This isn’t the first time that an education-related site has been part of the Webby awards. Way back in 2012, Khan Academy received a Webby for education sites. But it may be the first time an education news outlet has been honored. An email to various longtime education journalism types turned up no recollections of past education news sites being finalists or honorees.
