On Tuesday, May 21, the 2024-2025 Connecticut Educators Rising Student Cabinet Officers met with Representative Jeff Currey at the Hartford State Capitol to discuss current education trends and share their perspectives about the field of education. The students also shared their experiences with their EdRising Clinic field work where they teach lessons and support students from various backgrounds and abilities.
Representative Currey entertained student questions about budgets, the teacher shortage in Connecticut, budgets to address student needs, teaching certification testing and testing costs, and the funding disparities between urban and suburban school districts.
The students ended their visit enjoying lunch in the Capitol Cafe with their teacher leaders, Kim Celotto. EdRising curriculum coordinator; Sone-Moyano, deputy commissioner; and Dr. Shuana Tucker, chief talent officer from the Connecticut State Department of Education.
