In March 2018, Congress increased funding for the Child Care and Development Block Grant program, which helps low-income families access child care and improves the quality of care. So how are states using these funds? The National Women’s Law Center has published a report summarizing each state’s plans.

More than half of states intend to raise payment rates for child care providers who serve low-income families. Some will use the funds to help families on the child care assistance waiting list, and some will use the funds to implement new requirements under the Child Care Development Block Grant Act of 2014.
