The sculpture is made of bent and welded steel rods. I was teaching some of my students how to weld and made this as an example of what can be created with steel.
I’ve always worked with the human figure, mostly in clay and wax. Here, I wanted to create the essence of a figure, not a realistic representation.
I plan to retire from teaching this June and intend to spend the next 20 years making art!
