Screengrab from NYT story on a Success Academy school in Fort Greene.
Here are 5 quick questions/thoughts re Thursday’s big @katetaylornyt @successcharters story http://ow.ly/U15fB that’s eating up my Twitter feed and taking over Nuzzel. Direct from Twitter:
1: Abundance of parents willing to go on record raises questions about @newshour claim that they could only find 1;
2: Unclear until tomorrow [Success press conference at 12:30] whether NYT also relying on accounts from families who won’t sign FERPA waiver to let Success respond;
3: Story revolves around “Got To Go” list — why not show it to us?;
4: One Merriman quote not NEARLY enough context IMHO re longstanding issues of districts/district schools that sift and push kids out; and,
5: Why not give readers a more nuanced closing anecdote rather than teeth-kicker (parent who didn’t know her son was on the list)?
