As you may have seen, Humans of New York’s latest viral portrait is of a young boy (above) who’s quoted saying “I’m homosexual and I’m afraid about what my future will be and that people won’t like me.”
Among many who’ve responded is Hillary Clinton. That’s raised the ire of Rush Limbaugh, who claims that the image is “phony”. As reported by Media Matters for America, Limbaugh says “There are no coincidences with the Clintons. There just aren’t any. And I feel very confident and safe speculating that this whole thing is as phony as it gets.”
There’s no evidence that the photo is a setup that I know of, but this isn’t the first time that Humans of New York has gone viral with a school- or youth-related portrait — or that elected officials have jumped on the bandwagon.
Earlier this year, a middle school student talked about how much he admired his principal, and the crowdfunding campaign that followed raised tons of cash for the students to visit colleges. There was a video from The Atlantic. They ended up at the White House:
