NPR is inviting students in grade 5-12 to create short (3-12 minute) audio podcasts that their teachers can submit for a chance to appear on the NPR shows Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Students can work as individuals or groups to share stories on any topic they choose. For example, students can create a podcast about something that happened at their school, a debate about an important issue, or something kids understand that adults don’t. Podcasts will be judged on their information and structure, personality and creativity, and production value.
The NPR Student Podcast Challenge Page includes links to the rules and requirements for submissions, as well as resources for teachers interested in teaching podcasting and for students interested in creating a podcast.
The submission deadline is March 31.
