Every year, the National Society of High School Scholars surveys high-achieving teenagers and young adults on their career interests, attitudes, and aspirations. According to the 2018 data (based on responses from more than 16,000 high school and college students across the country), members of Generation Z (born between 1996 and 2004) are strongly motivated to work in fields that promote social justice and the public good. Topping the list of their intended careers are medicine/health-related fields, followed by the sciences in general, biology/biotechnology, business, arts, and education.
